Softball Recap: Perris Takes a Loss

If Perris was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Desert Mirage last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Perris lost 21-10 to the West Valley Mustangs on Wednesday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Priscilla Diaz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Santoyo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Perris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Perris' defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for West Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perris will challenge Moreno Valley at 3:15 p.m. on April 3. Moreno Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.56 runs per game on average), something Perris will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Valley, they will square off against Tahquitz at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. West Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Tahquitz has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
