Basketball Game Preview: Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors vs. Landrum Cardinals

Two dominant guards in D Watkins and Benett Edwards are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors and the Landrum Cardinals will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lake Lure Classical Academy will head into Tuesday's game having proved themselves against Challenger: Lake Lure Classical Academy took a 31-point defeat the last time they faced off against Challenger, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Lake Lure Classical Academy skirted past Challenger 68-66. The win was nothing new for the Raptors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Watkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points along with seven boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashawn Camp, who went 8 of 20 en route to 24 points along with five assists and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Lake Lure Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Landrum has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 62-58 to Briarwood Christian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Landrum's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
