Basketball Recap: Piner Skates Past Sonoma Academy with Ease

Piner posted their biggest win since December 18, 2023 on Monday. They blew past the Sonoma Academy Coyotes 65-33. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Prospectors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Piner had a senior duo take command as Apollo Pereira posted 24 points along with eight boards and three steals and Tyler Coester dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Pereira is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 11 games he's played. Brendan Walker was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 rebounds.

Piner's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-7. As for Sonoma Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Piner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-52 defeat against Rancho Cotate on the 8th. As for Sonoma Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-17 victory against Victory Christian Academy on the 7th.
