Baseball Recap: Eau Gallie Extends Winning Streak to Three

Eau Gallie has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.8 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. Everything went their way against the Bayside Bears as the Eau Gallie Commodores made off with an 18-10 win. The victory was nothing new for the Commodores as they're now sitting on three straight.

Vincent Culver looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Vincent Breckenridge was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Alex Jacobs, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Eau Gallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

Eau Gallie pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bayside, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Eau Gallie will host Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bayside, they will venture away from home to take on Melbourne at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bayside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Melbourne's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
