Naugatuck took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Holy Cross, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Greyhounds had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 3-2 on Thursday. This was payback for the Greyhounds, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

James Crilly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits.

On the hitting side, Naugatuck's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Cestari, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Cestari has posted since back in April.

Naugatuck's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Holy Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Naugatuck will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Crusaders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
