Softball Preview: Robinson Rams vs. West Potomac Wolverines

Robinson is 8-2 against West Potomac since March of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Robinson Rams will head out on the road to square off against the West Potomac Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Everything went Robinson's way against West Springfield on Wednesday as Robinson made off with an 11-1 victory. The win was familiar territory for Robinson who now have five in a row.

Amanda Habstritt looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Robinson got a massive performance out of Harper Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Cascio, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.

Meanwhile, West Potomac had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fairfax an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. West Potomac's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Katie Demmel was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Demmel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Demmel was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Kate Hardy was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Shea Studdiford was another key contributor, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Robinson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. As for West Potomac, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
