Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Evergreen's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

It was a proper cat-fight when Evergreen challenged Littleton on Saturday. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lions 6-4. Six seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Cole Laursen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody March, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brecken Worthington, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Evergreen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Littleton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Coming up, Evergreen will face off against Pomona at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Littleton, they will challenge Wheat Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.13 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
