Basketball Recap: Sunset Comes Up Short

Sunset lost against Hillcrest back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sunset Bison were dealt an 82-45 loss at the hands of the Hillcrest Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1328th, while the Panthers are ranked 548th).

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laterrance Potter Jr, who went 11 for 23 on his way to 28 points and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Komarion Callahan, who went 8 of 13 en route to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Sunset has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Hillcrest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunset will take on Molina at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest has already played their next game (against South Oak Cliff), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
