Basketball Recap: Vanguard Knights vs. Tavares Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Vanguard Knights had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 34-23 victory over the Bulldogs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Vanguard also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Vanguard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jerkiah Richardson, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richardson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Hope, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Vanguard's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Tavares, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Vanguard's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Leesburg is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games. Tavares does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
