Preview: Woodville Eagles vs. Huntington Red Devils
The Woodville Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Huntington Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodville will be strutting in after a win while Huntington will be coming in after a loss.
Two Fridays ago, Woodville was able to grind out a solid win over Coldspring-Oakhurst, taking the game 28-18. The win made it back-to-back wins for Woodville.
Woodville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ralon Williams, who threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. Woodville also got help from Christian Bean who showed off his sure hands for 129 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Huntington, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were outmatched by Crockett on the road and fell 60-19. Huntington has struggled against Crockett recently, as Friday's contest was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Woodville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Huntington, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Woodville against Huntington when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
