Softball Recap: Green Bay West Wildcats vs. Green Bay Southwest Fighting Trojans
Green Bay West had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Green Bay Southwest Fighting Trojans. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 15 in a row.
Haillie Gonion put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Gonion wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Nys, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Carina Putala was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
