Softball Game Preview: Huntsville Eagles vs. Providence Academy Patriots

The Huntsville Eagles will square off against the Providence Academy Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Huntsville lost 20-6 to Ozark on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mallory Harvey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off 11 hits. Harvey was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashton Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Oberan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Providence Academy came up short against Siloam Springs on Friday, falling 10-4. The Patriots have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Providence Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Roy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Macy Schoonover, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Providence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Huntsville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Huntsville came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 6-4. Does Huntsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Providence Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
