Baseball Recap: Chandler Wins Going Away Against Gilbert

Chandler's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Gilbert Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Luke Rylee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Chandler: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9-1 otherwise. Rylee was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Chandler let Jace Harrell and Yale Johnson run wild. Harrell scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Johnson scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Chandler is 2-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Romero, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Chandler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chandler's win bumped their record up to 9-10-1. As for Gilbert, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chandler will host Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gilbert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Queen Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
