Baseball Recap: Grove City Christian's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grove City Christian entered their tilt with Bexley on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Lions.

Jeff Collins and Jadunn Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Collins tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Harris didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Grove City Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8-1 otherwise. At bat, Collins went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Harris went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Fillinger, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Caleb Butts also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Grove City Christian's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bexley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grove City Christian will take on Fairbanks in a tournament on Friday. As for Bexley, they will square off against East Knox at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
