Softball Recap: Northfield Comes Up Short

Northfield extended their losing streak to 11 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They fell 10-7 to the Maconaquah Braves. The Norsemen lost against the Braves in their previous head to head back in May of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 27-1 score last time.

Bella Myers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Ali Copeland also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Maconaquah, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-13. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On Maconaquah's side, Blayklee Buman made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Buman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Ireland Kile was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaela Brazzel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
