Basketball Recap: Minden Starts off Right with Win over Southern Valley

Minden took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Southern Valley Eagles 80-52. The Whippets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Traelin Christensen had an outrageously good game as he shot 60% from the field en route to 24 points and seven boards. Landon Bules was another key player, going 7-for-11 on his way to 19 points.

Minden was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Valley only posted five.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Valley lost, don't look at Isaac Hamilton. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field to rack up 28 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Lans, who posted nine points.

Minden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-21 defeat against Ogallala on the 6th. As for Southern Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 54-43 loss against Elm Creek on the 5th.
