Baseball Recap: Gateway Charter Griffins vs. Oasis Sharks
Gateway Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 15-2 loss at the hands of the Oasis Sharks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Gateway Charter of the 5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March.
Gateway Charter saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidyn Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Gateway Charter didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 13 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oasis only tossed six.
On Oasis' side, Gabriel Gair made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gair was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Caiden Dusel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Pinney, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Gateway Charter now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Oasis, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
