Basketball Recap: Eduardo Cantillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alameda over Arrupe Jesuit

Alameda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arrupe Jesuit Generals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 68-67 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2016.

Alameda's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eduardo Cantillo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Efrain Huerta, who posted eight points and five steals.

Arrupe Jesuit got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yahir Pizarro out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Louie Garcia was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Alameda's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Alameda didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 97-28 defeat against Fort Lupton on the 6th. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they have also already played their next game, a 48-38 loss against Addenbrooke Classical Academy on the 7th.
