Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Middie Bears vs. Kingston Tigers

Middletown hasn't had much luck against Kingston recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Middie Bears will square off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Middletown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Kingston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Middletown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Kingston with a sharp 8-0 win. The Middie Bears not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 12-1).

Middletown got a great performance from Reinaldo Rios as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Daniel Aviles was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Middletown's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

The victory made it two in a row for Middletown and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Kingston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
