Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. South Bend St. Joseph Huskies

The Elkhart Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the South Bend St. Joseph Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elkhart is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 63 points on Thursday, they were much more limited against Lawrence Central on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 70-18 loss at the hands of the Bears. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.

South Bend St. Joseph has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a blow against Andrean on Saturday, falling 65-38.

Elkhart will have to contain Kayla Woods as she made an impact in South Bend St. Joseph's last game. She posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Schrock, who earned five points and three steals.

South Bend St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Elkhart, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Elkhart took their win against South Bend St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 51-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elkhart since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
