Recap: Catawba Ridge Copperheads vs. Northwestern Trojans
The Catawba Ridge Copperheads can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 67-36 win over Northwestern. The victory was nothing new for Catawba Ridge as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Catawba Ridge was led to victory by Lance Barnes and Zyan Hager. Barnes scored 20 points along with nine rebounds, while Hager scored 19 points along with six steals. Hager hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Foley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryland Meszaros, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Meszaros is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Catawba Ridge pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Northwestern, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
Catawba Ridge will head out on the road to square off against South Pointe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Pointe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Catawba Ridge is ranked fourth). As for Northwestern, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jordan Watford and Mason Mitchell.
