Softball Recap: Nitro Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hoover, Nitro was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Williamstown Yellowjackets with a sharp 19-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

McKenzie Hyatt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Click was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Zoe Hyatt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Nitro hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matches.

Nitro pushed their record up to 10-14 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.7 runs. As for Williamstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.

Nitro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-3 loss against Sherman on the 28th. Williamstown has also already played their next matchup (against Magnolia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
