Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Fossil Ridge was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out the Palisade Bulldogs 5-4.

Brek Benedict tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Luc Gaca-Thiele and Jackson Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Gaca-Thiele scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Martin scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Owen Morgan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Palisade, their record is now 1-3.

Fossil Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 win against Grand Junction on the 15th. As for Palisade, they will challenge Pueblo County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pueblo County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Palisade surely won't give up without a fight.
