Basketball Recap: Memorial Day Comes Up Short

If Memorial Day was feeling good fresh off their 59-23 takedown of Coastal HomeSchool last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Memorial Day Matadors fell just short of the Savannah Christian Raiders by a score of 42-39 on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Matadors came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Raiders are ranked 483rd).

Memorial Day's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Savannah Christian, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

Memorial Day will head out to take on Robert Toombs Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robert Toombs Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Memorial Day surely won't give up without a fight. As for Savannah Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Toombs County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Savannah Christian is facing Toombs County at the right time seeing as Toombs County is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
