Basketball Recap: Nashoba Valley Tech Comes Up Short

Nashoba Valley Tech was the 62-57 winner over Innovation Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Nashoba Valley Tech Vikings were beaten by the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk 81-53 on Friday. The Vikings were down 64-40 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Innovation Academy was led to victory by Bryce Kankam and Elijah Vega. Kankam went 14 for 25 en route to 30 points and seven steals, while Vega went 14 of 21 on his way to 33 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Vega is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Barnes, who posted nine points.

Nashoba Valley Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Innovation Academy, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nashoba Valley Tech will head out to face off against Southbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Nashoba Valley Tech is facing Southbridge at the right time seeing as Southbridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Innovation Academy has already played their next contest (against Bethany Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
