Basketball Recap: Galesburg Christian Triumphs

Galesburg Christian hadn't done well against Tri-State Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Galesburg Christian Lions managed a 59-55 victory over the Tri-State Christian Huskies. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Huskies back in December of 2024, they had to take a 45-44 loss.

Tri-State Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Sam Fernandes and Noah Duenser. Fernandes went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and five assists, while Duenser went 8 for 16 en route to 19 points. Duenser is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Matthew Gilles was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and five assists.

The win got Galesburg Christian back to even at 8-8. As for Tri-State Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galesburg Christian will square off against Faith Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Christian will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Galesburg Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tri-State Christian, they will take on Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Quad Cities Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
