Savannah Country Day took a 22-point defeat the last time they faced off against Toombs County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs on Friday, sneaking past 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since January 18th.

When it comes to explaining why Toombs County lost, don't look at Parker Stanley. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cornelius Bullard, Jr., who went 7-for-16 to rack up 18 points.

Savannah Country Day's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Toombs County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2.

Savannah Country Day will take on Mount de Sales Academy in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Toombs County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-41 victory against Southeast Bulloch on the 13th.
