Baseball Game Preview: Wesley Chapel Wildcats vs. Mitchell Mustangs

The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Thursday, Wesley Chapel was able to grind out a solid victory over River Ridge, taking the game 4-1.

The team relied heavily on Mills Carrillo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacob Christensen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Mitchell won against Hudson on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Mitchell's pitchers stepped up to hand Gulf a 10-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Wesley Chapel's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Wesley Chapel came out on top in a nail-biter against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Does Wesley Chapel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mitchell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
