Basketball Recap: Paint Valley Comes Up Short

Paint Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Piketon Redstreaks, falling 50-28. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 695th, while the Redstreaks are ranked 337th).

Despite the loss, Paint Valley still got an impressive performance from Sophia Stauffer, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Stauffer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Braylyn Cunningham also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Paint Valley's record is now 3-17. As for Piketon, their record is now 12-8.

Paint Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-48 defeat against Zane Trace on the 3rd. As for Piketon, they have also already played their next contest, a 36-32 victory against Southeastern on the 3rd.
