Basketball Recap: Shenango Comes Up Short

Shenango suffered their closest loss since January 14, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Union Area Scotties by a score of 62-59. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-57 on January 3rd.

Union Area's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Stanley led the charge by going 8 for 17 en route to 24 points along with six boards and six steals. The game was Stanley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Eckert, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 19 points.

Shenango has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Union Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Shenango has already played their next game (against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Union Area will welcome Rochester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Union Area's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
