Basketball Recap: Progreso's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Progreso unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 49-27 to the Lyford Bulldogs. The Red Ants were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Progreso's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mathew Zuniga, who posted six points and seven rebounds. Zuniga is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Even though they lost, Progreso smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Progreso's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Lyford, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7.

Progreso will face off against Rio Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lyford, they will welcome IDEA Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyford is facing IDEA Riverview at the right time seeing as IDEA Riverview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
