Basketball Game Preview: St. George's Gryphons vs. Soulsville Revolution

Two dominant guards in Carson Crump and JAKEEL TRUSS are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. George's Gryphons will be home for the holidays to greet the Soulsville Revolution at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

St. George's took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Fairley 74-60. While the Gryphons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

St. George's found their leader in freshman Crump, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crump has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Silas Jones, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Soulsville suffered their biggest defeat since February 5th on Wednesday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Kirby an easy 80-60 win.

St. George's pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Soulsville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Everything came up roses for St. George's against Soulsville when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 64-24 win. In that game, St. George's amassed a halftime lead of 47-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
