Baseball Recap: Needles Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Needles won the last time they faced Laughlin and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Holden Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Needles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6-1 when he doesn't). Gabe Rodriquez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Needles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Needles has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Laughlin, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
