Layla Crickard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lilly Robinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Milah Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Huntington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Wahama had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over the Tornadoes. Considering the White Falcons have won 13 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Huntington, Wahama also got a great game from a two-way player: Elissa Hoffman. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Hoffman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalyn Christian, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Kate Reynolds was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Wahama pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-19.
