Baseball Game Preview: Sherwood Bowmen vs. Glencoe Crimson Tide

For the second straight game, Sherwood will face off against Glencoe. The Bowmen will venture away from home to take on the Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sherwood has eight straight victories, Glencoe has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Sherwood barely beat Glencoe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bowmen's pitcher stepped up to hand the Crimson Tide a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Bowmen have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Parry was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sam Hunt, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sherwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glencoe only posted an OBP of .062.

Sherwood's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Glencoe, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
