Basketball Game Preview: Largo Packers vs. Mitchell Mustangs

The Largo Packers will head out on the road to take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Largo is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Largo ended up a good deal behind Leto and lost 70-52.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Chase Clark, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailon Kaigler, who posted 20 points.

Even though they lost, Largo was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mitchell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 70-47 margin over Anclote on Tuesday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Largo better focus on containing Cayden Thomas and Christopher Stoddart as the pair were huge in Mitchell's win. Thomas went 8 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five assists, while Stoddart dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Stoddart is now averaging an impressive 8.5 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Wilson, who put up eight points and three steals.

Largo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mitchell, their record is now 6-7.

Largo was taken down by Mitchell 103-67 in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can Largo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
