Softball Recap: Stansbury Comes Up Short

Stansbury had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 9-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Bountiful RedHawks, falling 6-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Stallions were not able to get on the board.

Stansbury saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Klairity Vargas, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Bountiful, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Bountiful's side, they let Isabeau Hoff and Claire Yates run wild. Hoff went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Yates went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Yates has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Duryea, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stansbury will square off against Tooele at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bountiful, they will venture away from home to take on Roy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The RedHawks are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
