Recap: Maryville Christian Lions vs. Dupo Tigers
The Maryville Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Dupo 56-51. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Maryville Christian of the 49-24 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.
Dupo found their leader in underclassman Addison Mitchell, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lily McMannis, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Maryville Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Dupo, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17.
Maryville Christian will challenge the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dupo, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. New Athens is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
