Baseball Recap: Purchase Line Find Success

Purchase Line took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against West Shamokin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Dragons won by a run and slipped past the Wolves 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Dragons considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Devlan Kordish, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Purchase Line: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-9 otherwise. Christian Moyer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

Purchase Line always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Purchase Line pushed their record up to 4-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for West Shamokin, they moved to 9-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purchase Line will take on Marion Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Shamokin, they will square off against Homer-Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
