Recap: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. Dayton Bulldogs
On Saturday, The Metuchen Bulldogs got themselves on the board against the Dayton Bulldogs, but the Dayton Bulldogs never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulldogs 35-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Metuchen just coasted through the last quarter.
Metuchen can attribute much of their success to Cody Cardillo, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Flood, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
The win makes it two in a row for Metuchen and bumps their season record up to 3-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25 points. As for Dayton, their loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Metuchen will square off against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Highland Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Dayton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Wallington at 7:00 p.m. Wallington comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
