Baseball Recap: Crown Point Takes a Loss

Crown Point extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 1-9. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chazy Eagles. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

As for Chazy, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Chazy's part, Landon Duprey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit. Duprey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Babbie, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Zeke McLennan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Crown Point and Chazy will both be playing Lake Placid the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Bombers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Panthers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
