Football Game Preview: Hackensack Comets vs. Ramapo Raiders + How To Watch

Hackensack hasn't had much luck against Ramapo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Comets will face off against the Raiders at 6:30 p.m.

Things were looking good for Hackensack after they put the first points on the board last Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 20-6 bruising from Ridgewood. The contest marked the Comets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ramapo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed past the Indians to the tune of 42-7. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Raiders had established a 21-point advantage.

Hackensack better keep an eye on Casey Grusser. He was instrumental in Ramapo's win, rushing for 105 yards and two TDs on only six carries, while also throwing for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards Grusser has posted since back in October of 2024. Ramapo also got a significant boost from Liam Hayward, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Ramapo's run defense was locked in: Wayne Valley could only muster 0.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least four total tackles, Joseph Santo Yessis stood above the rest. He picked up 88 receiving yards and one score. Ramapo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.2.

Ramapo's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hackensack, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Hackensack might still be hurting after the 38-14 loss they got from Ramapo in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grusser, who rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 245 yards and one TD while completing 72.7% of his passes.
