Softball Recap: Make It 12 in a Row for Horizon Honors

Horizon Honors had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Danica Gutierrez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicole Topete, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Singleton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Horizon Honors was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale Prep Academy only posted a batting average of .062.

Horizon Honors' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

As of now, neither Horizon Honors nor the Griffins have any future games scheduled.
