Softball Recap: Monticello Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Monticello came out on top against Arthur-Okaw Christian on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Sages put the hurt on the Conquering Riders with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Sages might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Cassidee Stoffel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Thea Key was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Sadie Walsh was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Monticello kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Monticello is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-7 defeat against Tri-Valley on the 21st. Arthur-Okaw Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
