Baseball Game Preview: Upper Dublin Cardinals vs. Quakertown Panthers

For the second straight game, Upper Dublin will face off against Quakertown. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upper Dublin's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Quakertown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when Upper Dublin challenged Quakertown on Tuesday. The Cardinals took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Cardinals have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Quakertown's part, Jarred Housten tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Housten has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Quakertown let Cole Reich and Carter Tucholski run wild. Reich went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Tucholski went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Reich is becoming a predictor of Quakertown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-0-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Nick DePiero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Quakertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Quakertown's record is now 10-7-1. As for Upper Dublin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4-1.
