Baseball Preview: Strathmore Spartans vs. Granite Hills Grizzlies

Strathmore is 8-2 against Granite Hills since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Strathmore Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Granite Hills Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Strathmore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Strathmore is is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 17-9 to Corcoran.

JJ Morales and Dylan Duffey did some serious damage despite the final result: Morales scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Duffey scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kevin Sapien, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and an RBI.

Meanwhile, Granite Hills earned a 9-4 victory over Farmersville on Wednesday.

Osvaldo Leon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Diego Garay was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Strathmore's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Granite Hills, their win bumped their record up to 6-21-1.

Strathmore took their victory against Granite Hills in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Strathmore since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
