Cross Schools comes up short despite Genesis Wilson's dominant performance

Recap: Cross Schools Stingrays vs. Palmetto Christian Academy

The Cross Schools Stingrays have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. Their2023 ended with a 58-44 defeat against Palmetto Christian Academy on Saturday. Cross Schools found out winning isn't easy when you nail five fewer threes than your opponent.

Despite the loss, Cross Schools still got an impressive performance from Genesis Wilson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Lexann Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

It was another big night for Cokey Suddeth, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 rebounds for Palmetto Christian Academy. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Suddeth has scored at least 25% of Palmetto Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Avery Clark, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Cross Schools' defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Cross Schools will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Coastal HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Coastal HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 409th in Georgia, while Cross Schools is ranked 92nd in South Carolina). Palmetto Christian Academy and Laurence Manning Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Laurence Manning Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
