Softball Recap: Ballston Spa Starts Season with Win Against Glens Falls

Ballston Spa took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Glens Falls Black Bears by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Scotties, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Livia Wiltsie was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madelyn Perrone and Brooke Lescault did most of the damage at the plate: Perrone scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Lescault scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Lescault a new career-high. Maedelyn Ebbecke was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Glens Falls' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Ballston Spa and Glens Falls will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Scotties will take on rival Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Glens Falls is set to square off against their familiar foe Hudson Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
