The Madonna Blue Dons will challenge the Beaver Local Beavers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Beaver Local will be up against a hot Madonna squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 12. The Blue Dons blew past Bridgeport 8-2 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Madi Owens, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Conley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Beaver Local got the win against Brooke on Friday by a conclusive 10-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Beavers.
Megan Henrich spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brenna Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ciara Call, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Beaver Local was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooke only posted a batting average of .217.
Madonna's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Beaver Local, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Madonna has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like Beaver Local struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madonna suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Beaver Local when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
