Softball Recap: Russell County's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After only one run in their last match, Russell County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Middlesboro on Monday. The Lakers were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Yellowjackets. Considering the Lakers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylen McGowan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Roy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Russell County moved to 6-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Middlesboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell County will face off against Union County at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Middlesboro, they will challenge Gallatin County at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
